*Elementary English Language Arts Consultant*
Non-union, at-will position
*POSITION SUMMARY: *The ELA consultant will provide instructional leadership, professional development and coaching, in order to support St.
Clair County administrators and teachers in implementing the Literacy Essentials.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*
● Master’s Degree in Education or Educational Leadership
● Michigan endorsement with approval or certification in Reading
● Three to Five years teaching elementary, and/or administrative experience
● Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in literacy instruction and the Essential Practices
● Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in differentiating instruction and implementing accommodations to best meet the needs of all students
● Knowledge of current state literacy standards
● Knowledge and experience with all Essential Literacy Practices
● Instructional skills and knowledge base in early literacy components such as phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension
● Familiarity and success with utilizing formative, screening, and diagnostic tools with students to determine appropriate reading instruction
● Ability to utilize data from diagnostic tools to determine additional extra supports needed in order to read at grade level by the end of Grade 3
● Demonstrated ability to develop and meet timelines for completion of projects
● Demonstrated skill in managing multiple projects
● Demonstrated fluency with technology used to support the development and delivery of professional learning content, including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Adobe Connect, and all Google applications
● Demonstrated willingness to engage in continued professional learning to enhance individual skills set related to position
● Ability to assess one’s own strengths and limitations or challenges and integrate this understanding into interpersonal interactions
● Ability to work with a team, focus on continuous learning and improvement
*DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS*
● Master’s Degree and Reading Specialist certification or the equivalent amount of training focused on research-based practices
● Ability to use observational data and formative assessment processes to guide professional learning and coaching
● The use of technology as an instructional and organizational tool
*ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:*
● Provide professional development to teachers and administrators related to the Literacy Essentials
● Provide ongoing modeling in K-5 general education and special education classrooms
● Provide ongoing coaching to K-5 general education and special education teachers in implementation of the Literacy Essentials
● Work with school districts in assessing needs and integrating Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for K-5 literacy including coaching building-level teams in analysis of data
● Participate in required trainings for Michigan ISD K-3 Literacy Coaches
● Participate in required trainings with the SCCRESA Elementary ELA consultant
● Remain knowledgeable about current research and pedagogical recommendations relevant to the coaching role
● Provide training and support with implementation of a comprehensive system of literacy instruction
● Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be required to achieve the above outcomes

Employment Type: Non-union, at-will position, 241-day contract
Compensation: $80,000-$88,000 salary or commensurate with experience
